Albania will probably go down as one of our least favourite countries. The roads were bad, the weather was bad, the people weren’t as friendly as their Balkan neighbours, and the kids all wanted money (not an isolated issue, but one we hadn’t experienced for months and months).

It was redeemed partially by 2 good days cycling in the mountains, despite the almost total lack of view. We felt good and fit, churning out almost 90 miles and 3300m of climbing.

There isn’t much else to say about Albania really. Other than don’t leave the country with any currency, because you can’t change it anywhere.

Macedonia in numbers;

Longest day – 53 miles

Most climbing day – 1820m
