Our final week came around rather quickly. We had two more days with my dad, cycling up to Harlem for some chips and seeing Piet and Lilly, before we headed back down south to the Efterling. Two nights in a lovely campsite, and a day off at the theme park, where I discovered all the rides made me travel sick.
Then before we knew it, it was our last day. We had a nice tailwind over to Europoort, and got on the ferry very early, but just managed to avoid getting rained on. We ate sandwiches in our cabin and reminisced over our trip.
After a great buffet breakfast, we disembarked to find Jon and Ollie waiting for us. I had a little cry as it really sunk in that we were home and it was over. Then we cycled home to Leeds.
We had a long lunch stop in York, meeting more friends for the final few miles home, and had some typical British weather. I was knackered by the time we got home, from trying to keep up with everyone, and from the Yorkshire hills. But we still managed to make it out to the pub for our welcome home party.
I can’t believe we actually did it.
